The same year, he passed the licensure exam. He completed the year-long Oral Surgery Externship Program at the Philippine General Hospital. To complete a year of residency at UCLA in prosthodontics and to train as a Prosthodontic Implant Technician at U. C. Los Angeles, he decided to move to America. He founded Gan Advanced Osseointegration Centre or GAOC in 2001.

This was a dental clinic that provided the latest technology for oral diagnosis and surgery, something that was quite rare at the time. He was a rising star on the Philippine Dental Scene and was elected unanimously to the position of President of the Philippine Academy of Implant Dentistry. Gan was elected as a Committee Member of Academy of Osseointegration and is also a member of American College of Oral Implantology, American Society of Osseointegration and Philippine Dental Association. His most important professional position is perhaps that of Chairman of PRC Board of Dentistry, the Professional Regulation Commission. This is the youngest person to hold this honor.
