Former President Ferdinand Marcos signed Presidential Decree No. 520 in 1974, which authorized the Central Bank of the Philippines (now Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas) to make an international conference building in a suitable area and organize a corporation to manage a conference center.
It comprises five building modules; Secretariat Building, Plenary Hall, Reception Hall, The Delegation Building, and The Forum. It was designed by Leandro Locsin, who was named National Artist later on, and built a facility on reclaimed land with more than 65,000 sq ft (6,000 m2) floor area.
Formally opened in 1975, the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) is one of Asia Pacific’s most prestigious and versatile event places, having hosted various political summits and medical conventions, as well as the Miss Universe pageant in 1994 and concerts by renowned international artists such as Luciano Pavarotti, the Bolshoi Ballet, and Burt Bacharach.
Cash payments are accepted for parking fees. Issues parking receipts. Secures and protects all PICC funds in the treasurer's custody. Balances the cash drawer and counts cash at each end and beginning of each work shift. Prepares and submits a Daily Collection Report on funds turnover.
Ensures proper upkeep and organization of assigned area and office supplies and equipment. Contributes to teamwork by completing related tasks as required.
