Indian national Manjinder “James” Kumar and his wife Bianca open an Indian restaurant at the heart of the metro in part of their commitment to helping promote Indian culture in the Philippines through food and the many traditions that come with it.
Authentic Indian cuisine is the piece ‘de resistance of Swaadisht. Aside from having an Indian-trained kitchen crew led by Nepalese chef Bishnu Khatri, the food served to guests is made using traditional cooking methods and ingredients flown in from India.
Their best-sellers include Tandoori, which comes in selections of prawn, chicken, mutton seekh kebab, chicken tikka, fish tikka, vegetarian meal Dals, and Hyderabadi biryani for rice/biryani. For drinks, they offer Lassi, a yogurt-based drink they make from scratch, and their signature Masala tea.
Curries are another favored main. The stars of Swaadisht’s curry category are rogan josh, a Kashmiri cuisine of slow-cooked mutton; and Murg makhani (buttered chicken), chicken slowly cooked in spiced tomato, butter, and cream.
