Shrine of the Five Wounds Manila

Discover the Shrine of the Five Wounds of Our Lord Jesus Christ, a prominent Catholic church located in Las Piñas City, Metro Manila, Philippines. Conceived in 1998 and officially dedicated on June 12, 2010, this architectural marvel serves as a testament to faith and modern design. It was elevated to a shrine by the Diocese of Parañaque in 2012, embodying dynamism, power, and permanence, reflecting divine attributes.

The shrine's design is inspired by the nautilus, showcasing perfect natural proportions and the golden mean. Its grand structure serves as a contemporary landmark, complementing the historic Las Piñas Bamboo Organ Church. This design creates a profound link between the past and the future, ensuring a lasting legacy of culture for the city and its visitors.

Symbolizing the Holy Trinity, three colossal shells represent the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—core tenets of Catholic dogma. The vibrant colors used throughout the shrine are intended to attract a younger audience, conveying the message that God is present and relevant in their lives.

This sacred space features a 2,500-seat main chapel designed to accommodate large congregations, a dedicated eucharistic chapel for intimate prayer and reflection, a minor chapel for smaller services, and a 500-vault columbarium providing a peaceful resting place. Additional amenities include a 350-seat auditorium for various events and a 25-car basement parking area for the convenience of visitors.

Constructed with high-quality materials such as EIFS, high-performance architectural glass, exquisite Italian marble, durable steel, and lightweight aluminum, the building’s structural frame is a composite of steel and reinforced concrete, ensuring its longevity and structural integrity. The Shrine of the Five Wounds is not just a place of worship; it is a work of art and engineering.
