About Museo de San Agustin

Welcome to San Agustin Museum, Church and Convent! It is not one more church and convent among the several hundred existing in the Philippines, but is a unique institution. Unique are her works of art architecture, carvings, paintings, furniture, choir books the oldest in the Philippines. But, above all, unique is the history of the Augustinian Friars that live here, pray here, study here, and spread the Message of Love to the people of the Far East from here.

The Augustinian Friars wish you a pleasant visit. We remind you that this place has been an Augustinian Convent since 1571, when the city of Manila was founded. Here lived, prayed, and studied more than 3,000 Augustinians. From here they went to spread the Good News of the Gospel to the different Philippine Islands, and beyond, to China, Japan, India, America, and Africa.

Another mouth-shaped structure is the St Augustine Museum. It is attached to the Augustine Church. There are many exhibition halls along the promenade that show the historic life, cultural heritage, and medicine of Spanish Augustine Church clergy during Spanish rule.
