About Las Piñas-Parañaque Critical Habitat

The Las Piñas–Parañaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area (LPPCHEA), also known as the Las Piñas–Parañaque Wetland Park, is a protected coasts area of the cities of Las Piñas and Parañaque. The islands were proclaimed by the Philippine government through Presidential Proclamation No. 1412 as a Critical Habitat on April 22, 2007.
It covered 175 hectares covering the two interconnected islands where important bird habitats such as beach forests, lagoons, mangroves, and mudflats are found. It was listed on March 15, 2013, as a Ramsar wetland of international importance. Upon the enactment of the Republic Act No. 11038 (Expanded National Integrated Protected Area Act) on June 22, 2018, the LPPCHEA was legislated as a National Protected Area covering 181 hectares.

The LPPCHEA Wetland Centre Complex is a group of structures that serves to communicate the conservation and wise use of the mangrove and other wetland areas in the 175-hectare area that composes the LPPCHEA protected area. The Wetland Centre also serves as a venue to educate the general public on the value of wetlands to society in general and of the LPPCHEA to nearby communities in particular.  The Wetland Education Learning centre comprises several structures that house the different activities that maximise the participation of visitors and help to increase awareness of the conservation and wise use of wetlands.

Beautiful coastal area, with an emerald wildlife sanctuary. It is sad that so much trash end up in this beautiful spot in Metro Manila.
