About Makati Medical Center

Renowned Filipino Doctors and Businessmen founded Makati Medical Center in 1969. It was started in the early 1960s when OB-Gynecologist Constantino Manahan, MD, with the surgeon Jose Fores, MD, and cardiologist Mariano Alimurung, MD, decided to set up a world-class facility in Makati.

To raise funds for the construction, the founders looked for other professionals and doctors who had the same dream. They sent Atty. Artemio Delfino as an emissary to the United States to scout for more investors. It was formally opened to the public on May 31, 1969.

It marked the fulfillment and culmination of years of hard work and sacrificed to provide Filipinos healthcare. On May 31, 2019, they celebrated their golden year anniversary. They commemorated the founding fathers' priceless contributions to the hospital's legacy. A coffee table book entitled "Ginintuan" (Golden) was launched to chronicle the institution's story and legacy throughout its fifty years of serving.

The Admissions office proudly displays that you aim to provide QUALITY service for ALL patients from the beginning to the end of their healthcare journey. This is complete RUBBISH.

This hospital is too understaffed, has many patients and lacks the facilities to support it. It's supposed be the most prestigious in the Philippines.

MMC is undoubtedly one of the top hospitals in PH if we compare it with other provinces. My mom also loves MMC. Even though she was sick in Canada, she went back to PH to get checked up. It is disappointing to read that many doctors have a money-oriented mentality. MMC has the opportunity to investigate this.
