Established in February 2008, UMU Japanese Restaurant, formerly known as Benkay, is situated inside the 5-star hotel of Dusit Thani Manila, a hidden gem of superb Japanese cuisine offering flavorful dishes and a flair of entertainment.
Living up to its name's meaning of "born of nature," its oriental ambiance invites you to feast on authentic Japanese cuisine inside a serene setting reminiscent of a homey yet modern Japanese house.
UMU's menu features a range of Japanese cuisine, retaining some of the well-loved dishes of Benkay along with the new selections that are not only appetizing for the eyes but also for the diner's palate.
They serve classic Dragon Maki made with grilled unagi, cucumber, mango, and cream cheese drizzled with sweet eel sauce.
For sashimi lovers, they have Gosyumori, five kinds of raw fish sliced into five pieces each, such as Kampachi (greater amberjack), Hata (Lapu-Lapu), Maguro (tuna), Shake (salmon), and Tai (red snapper). Also, Ebi Tempura is served with homemade tempura sauce. Their Western-style teppanyaki consists mainly of seafood, vegetables, and meat like beef and chicken.
UMU also offers bento-style, a la carte, and Kaiseki (traditional Japanese set menu) dishes for variety.
Experience the taste of Japan in the heart of Manila. Sit amidst UMU’s award-winning Japanese design, live cooking stations, private rooms, and an al fresco dining area complete with a koi pond and a picturesque Japanese garden. Enjoy a memorable meal crafted from authentic recipes and the finest ingredients.
